The Yukon Territory Public Health Act, Eating or Drinking Places Regulations and the Yukon Food Retail and Food Services Code detail requirements that a food establishment must follow to ensure prevention of health hazards and the protection of public health. The regulation lists requirements regarding temperature control, maintenance, employee health & hygiene, cleaning & sanitizing, standards for equipment, operator and employee food safety education requirements, as well as record keeping tasks.

The Food Retail and Food Services Code details employee and operator food safety training requirements and the need for ongoing training.

In Yukon, every food premise owner or operator shall ensure that at least one employee holds valid and accredited food handler certificate and shall be present on site during operating hours.
